U r in the same stage which i was a few years ago.
The best way to over come this is to keep inviting those people to our home who hav good opinion about us. So when they are about to come, we shall arrange he things to avoid embarrasment. Keep doing it time and again, and ur house will be in good shape.

If you're single it means that when you do meet the girl (or boy) of your dreams you can create a great first impression with a clean house. Plus your buddies can come over for sunday night football and not have to worry about sitting on last nights pizza.

If you're in a relationship then it looks great if you at least empty the trash once in a while, and it means you get brownie points for use in other 'areas'.

Burn a few CD's of your favorite jams back-to-back.

Put on the "Dexter Laboratory" gloves.

Crank the music the hell up.

Turn the blinds/curtains down.

Put the rags and cleansers in your hand, ready the vacuum cleaner, and imagine that you are a contestant on "So You Think You Can Dance!".

Dance your way into a clean home and get a well needed workout in the process.

That's a win-win proposition.

i mean ...... if you know that you are lazy and you need to clean the room, isn;t that enough to motivate you to clean the room!

Just look around and tell yourself that the room is bad! you need to clean it! the way you want it to be....! thats it..... if you know its time for a clean thats the only motivation you should need.... and nothing else.... don;t wait for more ans. or friends to come.
you don't have to keep your room clean for others, its your room and YOU are the one who would have to stay there!
SO..... get started!!!

I am exactly the same, my young boy sit in front of the tv in the morning and I get mesmorized by the cartoons he watches and before I know it its 2pm and I haven't got time to do the housework.

To combat this I have started using my generic MP3 player to listen to some music I enjoy...and get on with it. Its worth the work my friend

The best way for me to get motivated is to invite friends over, make sure you only give yourself an hour or two, any longer you then end up on answering Q&A...I have only got 3hrs to go!!

Hmm dunno.
Read some Quentin Crisp, he never ever cleaned his place. He had a theory that it would reach a particular level of filth and squalor and remain that way which meant he had no need to!

As I type this with one hand, the other hand is mopping my living room floor of course.....

invite friends around - either you will clean the house before they come or they can talk about you afterwards - again this should motivate you to clean your house
