Watch your thoughts,
they become words.

Watch your words,
they become actions.

Watch your actions,
They become habits.

Watch your habits,
they become character.

Watch your character,
it becomes destiny.

Racism is not a people issue. It is a character and power issue.

And there are no words you can utter in a brief encounter in public to undo the behavior of a miscreant right then and there. A person must repeat an action at least 20 times before he can establish the NEW HABIT. Keep in mind, that person must WANT to change that habit as well, in order for it to stick into his subconscious. Benjamin Franklin learned this circa 1700's.

He also learned that on average, it takes people almost 3 years to TRULY understand YOUR perspective and to see the world through your colored glasses.

You will be ONE stop along that person's LONG journey to character rehabilitation.

Your only civic duty about racism is:

(1) to know that it exists,
(2) to recognize it when it takes place,
(3) to know faithfully that you shall and will rise above it without exception.

As stated before, racism is a question of power and character, but even power's arms are too short to box with the Almighty God.

Your job is NOT to teach cultural literacy to the culturally ignorant.

Your primary obligation for occupying space on this world is to:

1) listen
2) live
3) love
4) learn
5) and leave some kind of legacy for the next generation.

Now get out there and MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Whenever I experience indirect or direct racism because I am white I call the offender out on it then and there. Sometimes you might have to use your knuckles in the end but let the person know what an idiot they are. I don't deal with that crap from anyone. Standing up is the only way to draw attention to it. And what Larry said.

Say something.

You have to collect yourself first, but let them know they are wrong. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away. Let them know what the truth is. A lot of people don't expect a calm and rational reply so in my experience they usually stand there dumbfounded. Sometimes they will think about the things they do and sometimes they won't, but you'll never no unless you speak up for yourself.

I was in a store with my daughter and was dressed in a buisness suit and she was dressed like a normal kid. The woman still followed me around like I was going to steal something. There was a white woman putting things in her bag and walking around the store. Without turning around I said "I'm not going to steal anything so you can stop following me now. I make more then you do considering you make minimum wage hanging up dresses. Why don't you go and check the woman out over there. She looks like her purse is getting a little heavy from all of your stolen clothes" She turned and walked away. The woman was caught and the manager thanked me and gave me my purchase for free. Then said she would send the girl to sensitvity training. She was going to fire her, but I asked her not to. I told her "ignorance is a lack of education, she just need to be a little more educated"

It's a tough call. If they're in your face, then you have to say something. However, do it with the sweetest smile you can muster, and tell them very sweetly how rude they are. Do it in a way where they see you walk away, and you leave a question mark on their face. This approach has worked for me many times. Just make sure that sweet smile never leaves your face, then hit 'em with the truth. Good luck.

I once went to a turkish kebab shop and stood beside an aboriginal wowan waiting to be served.I am a few shades darker than the average turk, who also face rascism. This turkish bloke just wouldn't look our way noticing anglo-saxon women instead. After awhile I lost my cool and said "Hey mate are you blind or colour blind?"He went red in the face.I must say the average anglo-saxon is pretty fair though.

Confront them verbally.

I think this works best when you can slyly let them know you're educated & have buying power.

I'm also not afraid to ask for a manager or fill out a customer service (evaluation) card. You can also call in later to the regional office etc.

Like I said, I AM NOT AFRAID. I WILL get you fired.

If you're kids are being raised to be rappers, and dress like little street thugs? Yeah, I'm NOT going to hire you for my company.

If they dress for success, use proper english, and show some respect such as a few "Yes Sir" or "Yes Ma'm" and smile, then I'll be more than happy to hire them.

Don't play that race card crap if you're not raising your kids right- that is, in such a way that they show respect to other people, and have a good strong worth ethic

ignorance....because when confronted they will deny all allegations.....ok if u approach the authorities how un biased are they themselves....u know very well how white officers behave towards black complaints.....so avoidance is the best policy.

Tough to answer.
Maybe tell them you will pray for them that they will see we are all God's children - pray for them to release their sin of hate so that God will let them pass the golden gate.
That might work?
