HTML is hyper text markup language, u can see the codes written in that language, just visit a web page go to the view button at top, in it u'll have source, i.e view source, click it n u can check the html source code there.

HTML - HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. A "markup language" is a computer language that describes how a page should be formatted. If all you want to do is display a long string of black and white text with no formatting, then you don't need HTML. But if you want to change fonts, add colors, create headlines and embed graphics in your page, HTML is the language you use to do it.

your website is built with HTML. there is alot of programs (wizards) that helps you to create a web page without dealing with HTML code itself. But still you edit your page by opening the file with HTML editor that your server provides, if u have the file on your computer you can open it with Notepad. and then you can copy and paste any code you want into it.
* don't forget to save or upload the updated file.

Depends on what you're using to create the website--if you're using a program that employs a drag-and-drop type of interface, then you'll need to find a way for it to display what you're creating in HTML.
