By all means ban foreign footballers (AND managers/trainers too) but DON'T INVEST ANYTHING in home grown talent - it's supposed to be a sport - A GAME - NOT a business. Money shouldn't come into the equation - if players are good enough, they'll pop to the surface if people don't have to pay enormous prices for tickets to watch them play - money which only goes to fund foreign players. It's just a money-go-round at the moment.

Couldn't agree more, but why just the Championship, why not the entire professional league?
Personally I thing the amount of foreign players should limited per squad, e.g have a ruling that teams can only field four or five foreign players per match. Chelski, Arsenal, Liverpool would be fu*ked!!
Serious point though, surely this would encourage more home-grown talent in English football.

invest massive amounts in home grown talent - yes, as has already been done. why do people think that nothing has been invested?
ban foreigners - no.
limit them, to 5 or 6 maximum a game maybe, including scottish and irish players.
but keep in mind once foreigners are banned or restricted, the best talent will not be coming to england, and the premier league will lose all it's glamour. think henry, cantona, zola and all the other foreigeners that lit up the premiership....then think of the english players...shearer, cole, sheringham, rooney, owen - not so glamorous eh?!
also keep in mind political implications....england/uk is part of the eu and labour laws apply...restricting eu players is not allowed.

I would not like to ban foreign players but just limit their numbers as they have made a difference to our game, to me its a pleasure watching players like Henry, Ronaldo, Drogba & Many More showing their great talents.
Id like to see the wages capped though and transfer fee's too cause its becoming a bit of a joke and only the very rich clubs can afford the massive prices !.

In principle I agree with you but there is no need to. They get the TV money and if the standards were to dip that would be under threat. Maybe it would be better if they limited the number of Foreigners who could play or introduce a limited number of British born players at under 21 into the matchday squad e.g 5 British born players under 21 in the matchday 15.

Take the money out, limit the number of foreign players to 2 per side, lose the politics and get back to playing the game the way us Brits used to play the game back in the 60's..

How about we ban massive amounts of money involved with football altogether and invest it on useful community projects.

Let them play. They just need a salary cap to control the price
