There aren't many I can think of. I thought of all the books written by men that I've read (less than 20 full-length novels, sorry), and I realize they have come off as fake.
All I can think of right now is Eponine from Les Miserables.

i like the first answer, but im my opinion, Julia Roberts in pretty woman, i is way to convincing and makes me so angry. it projects the image that its OK to be a prostitute, and that your knight in shining Armour will sweep you off your feet. and that your in a fairy tale, and you will happily ever after. NOT DO NT GET ME WRONG GREAT MOVIE, BUT COMPLETELY UNREALISTIC, AND SHOWS NO TRUE LIFE ISSUES AS TO WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO LIVE YOUR LIFE SELLING YOUR BODY. If you mean characters made up by men, as in characters in writings by men ...
Eve in the Bible.
The Bible was made up by men, and yet (amazingly), lots of women believe it is a true story.
What is really sad is that one purpose of the Bible was to put women in a subordinate role, yet many women go along with the ridiculous fictions in the Bible.
