I guess people are gullible or stupid or both. I don't personally give out such information on here, I saw a question the other day about a girl telling everybody that she's a childminder and looking for work- left her mobile number and everything.
It's bad really, there are paedos and all sorts on the net.

No kidding. People are such idiots online. I know *exactly* what you mean. I'm never ceased to be amazed. Something about not being face-to-face with another person just causes people to "open up", like a dam, a wall of water that has been held back, which can now finally flow free, unrestrained, unchecked.
Later,
-- John Simon Smith, 29, Health care worker in Duluth Minnesota, married, one child; mother's maiden name is Johannesson. SSN: 512-34-9112, phone: 555-313-1051 (cell). Have not had 'relations' with wife in 6 months. Wife is still secretly resentful, due to giving up successful career and much higher income due to unexpected pregnancy 7 years ago; she was really never that sure about having children in the first place, and the relationship was on rocky grounds at the time. Share extended, longing gazes with brother-in-law at family reunions and holidays. Lost virginity at 22, when our first and only child was concieved.

Hi!
See it's very simple! People divulge out personal info when they find a very attractive and beneficial offer. The most common cases are:
1. When people meet a person on net who seems very attractive to them. in other words the person seems to be like a prospective friend, a girlfriend or a boyfriend whatever.
2. When people receive some free offer on their email, like a free psp, a free phone or a holiday, etc.
3. When people accidentaly come accross a webpage that asks them to give info of others in return of some cash.
4. When they come across a phishing or a pharming site. Notice these words sound like fishing or farming. HTese sites are basically fraud sites that steal your info wihtout you knowing it. for eg, I have a bank account and i want to withdraw cash for an online purchase. my bank name is x-yz.com But by mistake I type xyz.com and reach some other site which looks exactly the same. I give out my credit card thinking it to be my bank site. then the owner of the site uses my pin to make purchases through my card and I pay the bill.
I appreciate your concern for this matter. Seems u r an enlightened fellow who wanna protect himself/herself in these insecure situations. Hope u know about the hazards of shelling out personal info. Like harrassment calls, kidnaping or even a murdur who knows.
Hope that satisfies ur quest
Best O luk

Dunno, because they trust people too much I suppose. There are many dangerous people out there on the net just waiting for someone to give them all the personal info they need. In doing so they may wind up with a psuedo stalker or worse.
I just live by the rule that I don't trust anybody until they relly prove themselves to be worthy of it. Always be guarded and take care.

ppl give personal info out because maybe they are lonely and desperate for any kind of relationship. I would think really carefully about giving any kind of personal info online. Having said that there are many ppl who have met there husbands/wife online. But I think the negative outweighs the positives.
I am speaking from experience I once gave my personal info out to someone who I thought was genuine and it turned out he was not a very well balanced person and started stalking me. So I do know what I am talking about. So beware and stay safe!!

1. People are quite ignorant of the security risks involved with the internet.
2. A lot of people are honest and caring, it is the spamming buggers who are not and take advantage.
3. We should group together and have a go back at the spammers and con tricks on the net

No other person is hearing them. They could not keep things to themselves and what someone to share with them some of the information.

Because they still see the internet as a benign entity. They forget that it's users are people and that just as you have nice people in life you also have those that do harm. They really ought wake up and smell the roses.
