My husband and I have been trying to concieve for about a year now and nothings happened. Im worried that because of my extremely irregular periods (only 2 a year) are affecting this. I also have a blood disorder called factor iv leiden, I inherited from my mom, my doctor said it may interfere with my ability to concieve. One of the problems with this disorder is that I cant take birth control to regulate my periods for awhile so that I could have an idea of when to try and and so on. My moms doctor told her that there was absolutley no way she was going to be able to have kids and she would just miscarry again and again , but my mom has four children. I just feel like its never going to happen and of course it feels like everyone i know is pregnant or are trying to get pregnant and they hit a home run the first time........ im confused and sad, any suggestions? thanks :)

Oh hun, I know the feeling. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for 10 months now with no luck, well we were pregnant, 4 weeks, hardly pregnant, but lost is about 2 weeks ago. And I too swear that every woman I know has had a baby or getting ready to. Even my 18 year old cousin, just had a baby. It feels like punishment or something, but without knowing what I've done wrong. I'm just counting down the days until the first of the year, because then the doctor with put me on fertility drugs. Which is something you could do, if you have been trying for over a year, your doctor should be able to put you on fertility drugs, which will help you and your husband conceive. I would really talk to your doctor about this and tell him you would like something to help you guys have a baby.
It sucks when there are so many undeserving women in this world having kids, then either aborting them, giving them up or just neglecting them, or too young to take care of them. When there are plenty of women in this world who deserve and want a baby so bad, who would take care of the child and give it the best life imaginable. The world isn't fair.
But good luck and talk to your doctor. And I hope you get pregnant, it will happen, just relax. :)

Keep in mind that pregnancy is an incredibly rare result of sexual intercourse. And with menstruation only happening twice a year, it's going to be nearly impossible to conceive naturally.

There are a few ways you can tell when you're about to ovulate. The rhythm method, the temperature method etc. Talk to your doctor about these so you know when your period is coming. The window for sexual intercourse is about a week long, in the week before you actually get your period. Of course it wouldn't hurt to start earlier for good measure, and of course have sex more than once. With such rare ovulation, I would ask you to seriously consider IVF, or adoption.

Did you consult your gyn/ob dear ?

Why not try bbt charting to see whether you're ovulating or not ?

Did you ever took some tests, including ultrasounds ?
