have been so watered down with talent that some franchises should be dissolved?

As a background note...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 29) - The NFL fined Carolina defensive end Al Wallace $7,500 Friday for his fourth-quarter hit on Tampa Bay quarterback Chris Simms .

Simms underwent surgery to remove a ruptured spleen after the game last Sunday. It's unclear what hit caused the injury, but Simms had complained of soreness and shortness of breath before Wallace's hit, which was not penalized.

Should the penalties be increased against the team/player for contact violations such as roughing the kicker/quarterback, pass interference, helmet to helmet contact, etc.

Or is that just...football !

They won't dissolve any franchise.
As for the hit on Simms, he should not have been fined. It was the combination of ALL the hits and that just happened to be the final straw. Wallace was very upset about the injury to Simms and has extended his concerns and apology.
That is what happens when you play football. Sometimes you do get hurt, but the player who does the hurting a majority of the time just wants you to get up slow, not knock you out for a few games. Every player knows the risk.

The fine was over zealous on the league's part, but they wanted to show that the NFL protects players from serious injuries. The Simms injury was unavoidable because it was an internal problem and no one could distinguish if he took a really bad hit. As far as the talent pool in the NFL, it has diminished alot recently because not only are the players coming into the league watered downed, but also the coaches. When a known loser of a coach or quarterback can get multiple chances with several teams, then it shoudl be apparent that the owners need to step in and somehow curve this trend.

I don't think Wallace should have been fined for a legal hit. You can't be sure if that is what did it. Football players now are wimps and whiners. If they keep up with more rules and fines they should just change it to flag football. 100 years ago, there were no helmets or pads. They are just to soft now, if you don't want to get hurt, don't play Football. There is a chance at everything and if the hit was meant to hurt another person, then they should be punished, but a normal hit, no..

I DONT THINK SO. IT WASNT WALLACE OR PANTHERS FAULT FOR HIS INJURY. YES THE PANTHERS WAS BLITZING AND THEIR DEFENSE WAS HITTING SIMMS HARD BUT IT WASNT THEIR FAULT. IM PANTHER FAN AND I WATCH THE WHOLE GAME AND HE WAS FINE AT END OF GAME. As for the fine, the NFL should not have to do that, but that just the way things are done, i guess!!

No, its just football. NFL worries to much about their QB's WR's and RB's get hit harder and more often than QB's. QB's just market better.

That is one of the reasons College Football is more exciting.
