i looked up this a few days ago cause i was buying an ipod yesterday, and wikipedia said that the new ones are saudered in the ipod and you have to send it in to them and pay for a new battery, and if you have someone else do it, it will void the warranty, if you have a warranty plan from best buy they pay for that, i dont know about anywhere else, Wikipedia has a lot genuine information, and they tell you other places to look for help

You can uy replacement batteries on ebay for about £6 and they hold the charge better than the original. Opening the iPod up is an absolute nightmare, though, and the cheap little plastic tools they send with the replacement battery are a complete waste of time. You need something like an eyeglass screwdriver, a lot of patience and some nerve (because you're invalidating your warranty by doing it) but I did it just a couple of weeks ago after deciding my battery was so near dead that I had nothing to lose if I *did* bugger it up. Except for the tiniest, practically unnoticeable scratch at the seam where I pried it open you can't see any visible difference but my iPod is now better than when I originally bought it. Best £6 I've ever spent, for sure.

Yes i do feel the same way about mine. The worst part is that it ain't gonna get any better. In the box says that the battery wont charge anymore after a certain number of recharges. So, enjoy it while you can. I don't think is possible to change the batteries, i have no idea, but if it is possible it won't be cheap.

I only won an iPod Nano 5G for yuletide and that i'd desire to declare the battery existence sucks. I dunno if the battery of my iPod is unsuitable or some thing in spite of the undeniable fact that it style of feels that as quickly as i exploit it for audio playback, it purely lasts as much as 5 hours or some thing. i've got encountered some human beings on the internet who journey a similar situation. Errr it is kinda troublesome nevertheless.

To be honest i would suggest getting a new ipod, you have either a first gen or second gen one, which are now past their best. Good recommendation is a 3rd or 4th gen ipod, easy to replace the battery. I bought a 3rd gen cheap off ebay that needed a new battery so i again bought a battery off ebay for £5, and they are really easy to fit.

That is why I am in no rush to get an iPod video. What mostly tempts me about them in the features dept.is the ability to get larger hard drives in 'em. I heard that the expected battery life on an iPod video while in video playback mode is 2 an estimated hours long if you are using a new battery.

the reason why you are dissapointed int the batery performance is because you probably screwed up by not charging it correctly. i have an ipod video and i charge it the RIGHT way and its battery works GREAT. and yeah i am pretty sure you can get a new battery, try apple.com

do you completely flatten battery every time and keep back light off where possible? that will make it last much longer.. also, 'shuffle' uses alot of juice........ if you use it indoors, the mains charger will charge it while you listen to it......
