You cant normally see the tonsils, but what you do see are the crevices that lead to the tonsils. Sometimes these crevice gather small amounts of food matter & other debris in the mouth which decays & create a mild infection. Combined with dead white blood cells it hardens to form a cheesey pellet that as you say smells absolutely foul when dislodged from the tonsil crevice, usually by swallowing or coughing.
The tonsils are lymphatic glands the job of which is to filter out dead cells & bacteria. With mild chronic throat infections the tonsils will filter the dead cells & bacteria within the area which will gather together into hard cheesey pellet inside the tonsil. After a time this pellet will erupt from the tonsil much like pus from a pimple. This is called follicular tonsilitis. You can dislodge these pellets by carefully pressing the tonsil with the handle of a teaspoon but do make sure its sterile.
To help this problem clean your teeth after each meal followed by a mouthwash & see you dentist on a regular basis

Hate to tell you but if you don't go to the dr. you may end up with a more serious problem. It sounds like an infection of the tissue in your throat and that needs an antibiotic such as Cephalexin. If you do not resolve this you could end up with an absess. Don't put it off...if you have a dead body smell coming from this it will require you to see a dr. Don't be so stubborn you need to take care of your self even if it is a quick visit to the er to do so.

The white lumps are pus from an infection. If you won't go to your doctor ( and why not as you'll only get him / her looking down your throat and possibly taking a small swab to test ) then you should try gargling with salt water regularly or possibly an antiseptic mouthwash from the chemist or supermarket.

You have strep throat. Those white bumps are actually plaque built up on the back of your throat. If you can't go to the doctor, take Vitamin C and Echinacea Goldenseal. Echinacea will cut your cold in half.
I've had strep throat plenty of times to know that's what it is...the plaque smells really bad too.

It could possibly be oral thrush which can be treated by a cream or tablets from a chemist.
If you wont go to a doctor try looking on a health website like the one below or just asking at chemist.

Did you pay to eat 'at a bad buffet?' Could be a typical cold strep mono but I was thinkin a lil worse.... Maybe a trip to the county clinic for a few swabs in random spots?

Tonsil stones. (Tonsillolith)
Some people are prone to getting these, and most people get them to a small extent. They are comprised of food deposits, sulphur and mucous (lovely!) :-(.
They can be pushed out with a q-tip or if they present a major problem it can be cured by having your tonsils removed.
Never suffered myself, but a quick trawl of the net reveals this to be quite common.
