why do people get so worked up about politics?

Cuz they are! Ppl look at an issue and have an opinion. Some are on 1 side and others are on the other side. It's a difference and they may just be very passonate over that difference. I think the passion comes from the fact certain ppl know the out-come of any issue can impact on their day to day lives. And every impact is not always a good one.

There is a old expression that says one should never discuss religion or politics if one wants to retain friendships or maintain good relationships on the job. People are too emotional to discuss some things.

Because the republican party has become a religious party (well just about). Anytime you bring religion into the mix things tend to get ugly.

My personal reason is that political issues can effect the outcome of my country and my world.

why do people get so worked up about sports, or celebrity gossip.. its just something to fight and argue about... though politics is particuarly contentious because the results of elections do really and seriously affect the lives of millions of people.
