The present points system is fine, but I think some thought should be given to making the leagues more competitive. Perhaps arranging them in Conferences like Major League Baseball in the United States, thus having more teams with something to play for in the latter part of the season.

the only thing that should be changed is the play-offs in the lower leagues. remove them!
