what's the difference between raggeaton, hyphy, rap, hip-hop music? When did it start? Why do people like to listen to it? I like too, but sometimes i just don't get what the meaning behind a song is except for cuss words and so i think they are worthless to listen to. what do you like to listen to? Give some examples; i just want to know out of curiousity, ty.

Reggea is from the Caribean Islands and, for most of us, started with Bob Marley. The culture there is very different than the others. A lot of it based on smoking weed.

Hyphy/rap is based on black, prison, inner city stuff.

Hip-hop is rap with an upbeat twist.

I can give you some incite on what Hyphy is. It's a movement not necessarily just a genre. It originated in the Bay Area by rappers Keak Da Sneak and E-40. It's pretty much our version of crunk.
Just like crunk, hyphy is a variation of getting amped up and partying.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PRISON.
