Once I've run out of RAM and my computer will no longer open any new windows or save URLs in my "Favorites," I have to reboot and will then get about another 30-40 minutes of surfing before having to reboot again. Have never experienced a similar problem, although I've been surfing for several years. My system = Sony "Digital Studio PC," w/: 2.20 GHz Pentium 4, 1 GB DDR, 800+ GB HD, Windows XT Home. I fully updated my virus/spyware/adware software (PC Tools "Spyware Doctor") databases and ran full system scans--no help.

Are you sure this issue is your RAM? With 1gb you should certainly not run out just from browsing the web. Try running a test on your RAM. One program you can use to do so is here:

http://www.memtest86.com/

although there are plenty more out there. Just Google Memory/RAM test if you need more.

Opening too many windows causes this problem. Clean out your Internet Cache, History and other temp files. Also check if any unwanted programs start at boot. You seem to have enough memory to run without any problem.

Really doubt that you run out of ram... Anyway, download this program FreeRam Xp, Should free up alot of ram.

If you have alot of avi file (movies) on your pc, do the "100% explorer fix". You'll find that at tweakXp.com.

Good luck

probably you are ruining some software that has memory leak(due to poor software design, variables don't get properly cleared), try to shut down programs(unistall) that you don't use, also turn off the programs at startup that you don't use, go to Start/Run and type msconfig and go to Startup tab, then uncheck the once that you don't use often
