You never had a relationship with him, how can he dump you? So you talked on the internet, big deal. As you say, he is living with someone, so that would indicate that at least knows the difference between the real world and make-believe.

It's like all relationships - whether he's playing games or not - the "newness" has worn off and he's now "satisfied" with what he's accomplished - which was getting your attention and interest and making you want him. He may be a player or he may be taking you for granted already.
Either way, it's hard to have a relationship on the Net, because no one really knows what the person on the other end of the computer is really searching for - attention, love, fantasy, or entertainment.
If the guy is 55 years old, he could be lonely, but tied down. That's possible. But he could be single and was excited about your new friendship and put all of time and effort into it at the beginning - jeopardizing and neglecting sleep, deadlines, work, errands, etc. But, like I said before, now he may have some catching up to do and has to neglect you for a while. That could be possible too.
The only way to know is to ask. But let him know you can be friends. AND DON'T TRY TO RUSH THINGS!
The Net is full of lonely people but it's also full of players and "confused" people. Some people don't know what they want and only string people along until something better comes into their life.
It's a shame, but that's how it is sometimes.

On-line dating should lead to meeting and then real dating. Don't waste time on men who just want to chat and acquire a harem of on-line love interests to stroke their own deflated egos. He may not have even shown you a real picture of himself. Go with your gut, when in doubt move on.
Girl, get off that computer and go out into the real world and then you'll meet some real men with real intentions.
Best wishes

there are a lot of factors that could be contributing to this. mayb he really doesnt have the time to get to you as often as he once did, mayb he's moving on with his life, mayb he's got other things that he has to deal with which get in the way. whatever it is, you need to find out from him what is going on because the last thing you'd want is suspecting that he's moved on with his life and trying to dump you when you dont know for sure, and then move on with yours. he has to confirm that is going on for it to be true

Ok. Really, is he even worth stressing over. There are so many men in the world that it shouldn't even matter. Especially if he's avoiding you like that. Nothing helps you get over the old love like the new one! Good Luck!!!
