I'm not sure how old you are but you seem to have a a very mature and insightful outlook on life. I think it should be mandatory to travel and be exposed to many other countries as a prerequisite to completing their education. I know that we would have a different breed of students with a vast outlook on life. And yes we would all appreciate what we have and maybe be able to at least empathize with the less fortunate. Thank you for your contribution! Live and prosper

Jose...
I understand what you mean and you are not confused. You've made a very wise observation. You are ahead of the pack!!
Yes, I am proud to be American. I chose the nickname I have because I was mortified the first time I visited these boards and saw the level of anti-American sentiment being displayed by my fellow countrymen/women. It is a disgrace to our country. Why do I continue to return to Yahoo Questions/Answers? It is my *duty* to represent my Country, my President and my fellow citizens who feel as I do, that the United States is the most glorious country on this Earth.
Voicing your opinion is fine. Heck, I may not agree with many of President Bush's policies but it is not wise to try and undermine your Commander in Chief in a time of war. Like it or not, we are at war.
"Are most people really bashing all of America, or just the Republican governments policies?"
It does matter what a large portion of the American public are saying when what they are saying is empowering those countries and individuals that want to see the United States destroyed.
Avery... how in the world can you say that patriotism in 1776 meant speaking out against your government? Patriotism in 1776 meant Uniting as a Nation and declaring our Independence.

Are most people really bashing all of America, or just the Republican governments policies? If you listen to talk radio, or to vehement right-wingers, you'll be told that Democrats bash America -- but listen to what real people are really saying. I'm sure that most disaffected Americans don't like the counterproductive policies of the Bush government -- they don't "hate America". They would like to change the country back, retake the moral high ground, restore our freedoms and respect in the world community. Are these people who should leave the country? Being a patriot can mean speaking out against what your government is doing. That's what patriotism meant in 1776.

Our us of a receives a foul rap for extremely some stuff, yet we are nevertheless considered the position to be. what number Mexicans come over the borders legally and illegally because they sense they could have a extra ideal danger right here? Our authorities isn't perfect, and they make blunders and infrequently the incorrect human beings get elected to the incorrect workplace - yet our gadget has tests and balances. it isn't a dictatorship. We the human beings, have a voice. we do not continually believe one yet another, and possibly we do not continually sense we are being heard - would not make it real. sure i'm fortunate to were born right here.

Americans are for the most part great. It's the politicians' meddling into our daily lives that is so frustrating and infuriating.
I wish politicians met for only one day a year for about 10 minutes. Then they would go back to work on a regular job like the rest of us.
Politicians are the ones who ruin everything for the rest of us.
Dems, repubs, libertarians, independents - they're all power hungry and want the huge perks they get when they wind up in Congress. I wish they'd go home and stop pontificating. They're annoying.

Proud American! No greater nation on God's green earth. No nation works harder to help the poor, save the environment and tries more than any country to be fair and just to all. It is because we are a republic, governed by the people and for the people. It is a shame that their are so many Americans deceived into believing the lies about how bad we are. Let them compare us to any other country and they will not find one as great as we are. If so, I ask them why are they still here?

I am a VERY PROUD AMERICAN!!!
There is nothing that I love more, than to see the flag of my country waving high in the sky.
I agree that there are many here, who do nothing but complain about this great nation. And I can't stand to hear so many bash our president, and the many others in office.
Whatever happen to common courtesy, and respect?
I may not agree with some of the ideals, or beliefs of President Bush. But he is our president, and I will show him the respect he deserves, as the leader of the free world.
This includes, not believing every little story I hear about him, or our government.
God Bless America!

Just like you ask your question, in what you assume is a patriotic way, other people assume that being patriotic is by using their right of freedom of speech documented in the first amendment. They like to test how patriotic you really are? And if you can't stand up for the "1st" amendment of the constitution. How patriotic you really are?
