If you can afford, I suggest that you buy a Laptop.
Malcolm Kelly, an editor, has decided to purchase a new computer for his 13-year-old son, Patrick.

"There are so many options available today when buying a new PC, it can all get quite confusing," concedes Kelly. One of the bigger decisions is whether to purchase a portable laptop computer or a stationary desktop PC, as each has its distinct advantages.

This I have taken from Microsoft Site.

I'm assuming by "BTech" you mean "biotech." I could be wrong about that.

I have studied biotech. What sort of computer you have makes little difference in the long run, as the data you use will be processed by servers.

I noticed, however, that there is some biotech software that depends on Mac OS. Buying an Apple might be helpful, but first check what kind of software you are going to be using. Chances are any operating system will work (in many cases you just need a text editor and a web browser). Linux is another common choice.

If I were you, I'd buy a desktop only because they are cheaper, but get a laptop if you need the space or portability.

Try to spend as little money as possible. ALL personal computers on the market are more than powerful enough for the study of biotech with, so don't drop more cash than you need.

It depends entirely on what you are going to use it for. If you want to be able to access your computer from wherever you are, get a laptop. If you dont need it to move, get a desktop.

As for config, that again depends on its intended purpose. If all you need is word processing, web browsing, and other simple tasks, you can get a low end model pretty cheap. If you want to do more, such as play games on it, then you'll have to get something more powerful, which will obviously increase the cost.

Depends on your budget and your requirements. If you move around too much and need computer with you, there is no alternative to a laptop. If you can confine your computer usage to your office (or home), desktop is cheaper alternative.
