How can one be so aware to know that that sound would mean so much to so many people.
I have to applaud you. What a simply fantastic thing to ask.
Yes, I love the crack I hear when I open a book for the first time. I'm a hardback buyer. Even if the book has been issued in paperback, I buy the hard cover. I think the sound appeals to us because we know its the prelude to what lies ahead. It sets the tone for hunkering down and getting lost in a book that will take us away for hours to come. And once we've reached the end of the journey.........the "thump" as we shut the book seals our thoughts and visions inside the book until we venture into the book years later looking to relive that experience yet again. "crack"

The best sound in the world. And the best smell in the world is old books and incense. There was this used book store I went to growing up run by this crazy hippy. It always smelled like books and Nag Champa. Beautiful.
