Everyone is different. The first time I had 2 shots so was on it for 6 months and it took a year for my period to return, and another year for me to get pregnant. I had 1 shot in March 2005, and my period returned the end of June that year, but my periods were lasting for 12-20 days. I went to the doctor in Nov and had bloodwork done and found out I had low hormones due to the shot and had to go on low-dose birth control pills (Yasmin) for 3 months, and got pregnant 2 weeks after stopping them.

I took me 23 months of very hard trying to fall pregnant after having Depo provera and I would never take it again. But I don't think its 'meant' to take long for your body to return to normal. Everyone is different. I guess it would depend on your body.
