If you mean just casual friends then I would say yes, definitely. However, if you mean a very close friendship, I believe it's unlikely. I think that in most cases one or both persons will fancy the other just a little. It's only natural, we are wired to be attracted to people who we have things in common with and who we feel comfortable around. If you think "yes, I'm in a platonic guy/girl friendship now and there's no sexual tension" then chances are that it's the other person who likes you just a little and you simply don't know it.

I think the only way anyone can have a 100% platonic relationship is if one of them is either gay, or unattractive. Other than that, there will always be some attraction, even if you don't say anything or act on it, there will always be a small attraction between a man and a woman who are *just friends*. Trust Me. When a man and a woman are friends, they have conversations, they relate to each other, they laugh, talk, hang out, have a good time together, and when you have this type of connection with someone there is alwyas going to be a tiny bit of attraction between you.

Of course its is possible. I have lots of male friends that are only platonic. Sometimes I think there is a sexual attraction in the beginning, but you do not have to act on it.

I think so but I can't say I am 100% sure because I am only 1/2 of the friendships. I have a number of male friends some of whom are straight, I feel as though my closest male friends are like brothers even if there were no other factors (and even though they are great attractive guys) I can't (seriously) imagine sleeping with them. That said on at least one occasion the friend has felt differently and wanted to take it further.

Probably, but usually one of the two fancies the other. If you can overcome this and realise there is no romance or whatever on the cards then maybe you have the basis for a friendship.
On the other hand if you still hold out hope for this person getting together with you romantically, you are heading for heartache!

Yes it is possible, I have male friends and that is all they really are - friends. We have been mates for nearly 16 years and he is a great laugh, a good listener and very funny. We simply don't fancy each other. both of us have partners and we all get on well. So yes it is possible.

for myself the logic is simple, out of 20 gals i know i could possibly choose one as a life partnet, thus i treat each and every one of them as a platonic friend, without feeling hurt as i wouldn't want to get the feeling of crush easily. but when the special gal comes, i will know as love is from both parties.

i have been wondering this for a while. i have some male friends and especialy one of them who is a bit of a flirt i find hard not to flirt with. it's weird becuase the though of kissing them is weird but really enjoy flirting. will it ruin our friendship? is it possible to have a friendship woth them? are we really that stupid as humans we can't mix with the opposite sex the same way we can with our own?
