Ok i'll give a a really detailed answer, cause i like points and if that doesn't work i'll give you a cookie!

Anyway, a drum key a T-shaped piece of metal usually with a square hole in the bottom of it, This hole fits over the head of the tuning lug of a drum. A tuning lug is basically a screw with a a square head that pulls the metal rim of a drum which in turn pulls down the drum skin over the shell of the drum. When there is an equal amount of tension all around the skin, that drum is in tune, and a drum key ensures that you can tune your drum. I could go on but i'll leave it.

A drum key is a wrench used to tune drums. It's a thing a drummer should never be without, or should have one or more backups.

It kinda looks like a skate key, a kind of a wrench that's used to adjust the tension of the drum head.
