No self-respecting doctor would prescribe birth control without doing a physical exam including a pap smear. It's no fun, but you'll live.

I'm on birth control to regulate my period i have had never had a pap and up until about 2 days ago i was a virgin. they don't really make you have one until your about 18 or until you start having sex. They just ask you some questions explain the risks and so on and so forth but considering you are 18 getting one would be a good idea.

You probably do need a pap for a prescription for birth control. I was 18 when I got my first pap and I was also a virgin. It didn't hurt my doctor was very gentle and it was supprisingly not uncomfortable. If you are having irregular peiods your doc will want to do a pelvic exam anyway to see if something serious is wrong and a pap will let the doc know if you have any concern for cancer. so either way you would be better off just going ahead and getting the exam(pap smear comes with exam) I hope this helps.

It's usually a good idea to start getting pap smears done from 18yrs, but it's not necessary to have one don, just to get a BC prescription. Pap smears aren't painful by the way, just vaguely embarrassing.

no you dont have to have a pap smear first to get birth control, im not sure if some doctors insist on that or not but they dont need to, infact you can go to Planned Parenthood and get them less expensivly than an average doctor.

Unfortunately it's part of the procedure. It's uncomfortable but not painful as long you are not tense. I am sure your doctor will make you as comfortable as possible. It's quick ,it will be over before you know it.
