How do you feel about the sexism todays women & America media have against men? They say things like, women are better communicators, better listeners, more in touch with their feelings, less violent, more mentally mature, more organized, more sensitive, more understanding, than men, etc.
I think thats total sexism. Not all, but aren't some gay men, especially more effeminant guys sensitive and in touch with their feelings, etc? Since transexuals who are men but live as women, are in touch with being more female, aren't many of them also less violent, possibly good listeners, etc? Or is this not true. Is it instead true that women are naturally as human beings better than men as this country's media so happily explains?
Do you believe this to be true? Yes or no, and why or why not. I'm eager to read your answers, and don't be afriad to dissagree, if you do, I want to read why.
Thanks.

Ashley - Why not just get rid of the men so women can rule. Life would be perfect that way, right?

Ashley - I'm being sarcastic by the way. At the same time though, wouldn't the world be better without men? Since we don't nurture of have much intuition?

Atropis - You are amazingly stupid. I apologise buts thats sincerely the only way I can at this moment discribe the incredible ignorance you've put so much time displaying with that comment. It's almost hilarious. Lets go down the list....
White men aren't the only ones who have power. Power comes in many forms, everyone has some degree of power. Because of that fact, many people in EVERY GROUP discriminate against others. If you don't see that, you either have to be an inexperienced 10 year old, or a total moron.
I never said ONLY gay men have qualities attributed to women, so you lied. I used gay men as an example to prove a point. & you never bothered to ask me, but I'll say this: I think men & women behave pretty much the same as human beings, but do things slightly differently to reach the same goals. So clearly striaght men & women can both communicate VERY well, & some do terribly, which is my point, that it's sexism to say only women can do the things I mentioned above.

Atropis - Continuing down the list, gender is NOT "pretty much" socially based. If you took time to stop reading the nonsense some arrogant feminist philosophers write, and look out at actual reality and watch adults, children, babies, you would realize that. Gender is both genetic & learned.
It's like being born with a tongue that likes sweets. Thats genetic. As you become an adult you learn about all of the candies and icescreams and cakes in the world that you will enjoy because the TV that shows commercial of it says so. And when you eat it, you naturally like it because you were born to like sweets you've always liked it, while some people hate it. No one force you to like sweets. Some people CAN be trained to like it, but you will have to heavily condition them to.
Gender is the same. Your first born with a speciffic gender, then you learn how society believes how your gender is suppose to act and be. It's not as black and white as it's either nature or nurture.

Atropis - And finally, continuing down the list: No sh*t that Transexuals aren't just men who live as women. As I stated before, this is just an example. No where in there did I say ONLY men who live as transexuals are transexuals. So it was your foolishness of assumtion that made you wonder if I had an understanding of Trans or not.
And lastly on your ignorant comment: Misogynist AND Misandry is alive in our society. Heterosexism , Transphobia, AND Homo-sexism, Bi-sexism, Lesbian-sexism, you name it, ALL EXISTS well in our society whether you want to acknowledge that fact or not. And YOUR ONE OF THE DISCRIMINATORS since you completely misjudged me by assuming I'm as ignorant as those that you are against without even asking me first what I thought before putting your foot in your mouth.
And if you STILL don't get it: I don't like discrimination of any kind. Thats what led me to ask this question. I think men and women are pretty much the same, & regardless of sexuality.

Being a ts myself I can genuinely say that being a woman emotionally is as challenging as being a guy. My hormones tend to make me very giggly, very emotional, but at the same time more intuitive about the people around me.
Men usually have a single mindedness that is suited for competitive environments (such as sports and business), while women tend to be more expansive in their thought processes which is more suited for teaching and parenting. This is not to say that both genders can't be the opposite, but usually those who are different from their percieved gender tend to stand out from the crowd.
Women who are single minded tended to be labled butch and aggressive (Ruth Badger from the Apprentice), while men who are more expansive tend to be labled as 'gay' and 'effeminate'. Ultimately women have advantages from being women, but so do men from being men. Men can be just as good human beings as women, but as you said in your question men are portrayed by the media in a negative light.

what i will say is they are a lil right on that. Most men seem to be less understanding and sensitive than women. But it is because of the gender role this society put on people. I've been always told, men don't cry, men don't do that, men don't... it's normal that they're like that after all. I have been told I was a good listener and understanding. I know I ain't violent unless required, but I ain't effeminate. you see, generally speaking, when men in our society is sensitive, listener, and all that stuff, he's told he's not a real man. so, what you want?

In general I agree with you but I would point out that some women are really cold hearted and juvenile-but there is a paradigm about these issues in our society and so the way actions are perceived can be slanted by the doer's sex/sexual orientation. For instance, I once had a best friend who was gay,but he did some really hateful things-when I ended our friendship no one who knew us both could believe it was him at fault because he was a "sensitive" gay guy. Also, a lot of men might be more nurturing if they didn't get the message their whole life that it is effeminate to be so. This is just my opinion.

You have patently and thoroughly demonstrated your ignorance. First of all, in order for it to be sexism, it requires discrimination and power. Straight white men have power. Straight white men cannot be the victims of sexism or racism. Only discrimination. By saying that only gay men can have the qualities above attributed to women, you essentially accepted the statement you called "total sexism". Gender is very much socially based. Some people transcend social conditioning and pressures. Transexuals can be either MtF or FtM, not just "men but live as women" (and this statement causes me to question whether or not you have any understanding of trans issues).
Misogynist sexism is still alive and well in our society, as is heterosexism and transphobia. Hopefully, you can see the irony in the manner in which you're helping to perpetuate them.

Suprisingly, yes. I have some friends who are gay, I'm gay too, and they really are a touch more mature and better listeners and the other straight guys.
And yes they are sensitive and are in touch with their feelings (that is for the more effeminant ones).
However, straight guys also do some stuff better than women and gays and vice versa.
And most gays are less violent than normal guys.
So I sort of agree with your statement.
Sexism will always be around whether you like it or not.

Biologically, women are hard-wired to nurture. The 'emotive' hemisphere of a womans brain is stimulated to care, to foster, to take care of children. Maternal instinct is triggered by a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland and distributed by the hypothalamus and interpreted by the cerebral cortex.
In order to protect their young, women have in-built 'danger' sensors. This is called intuition. In order for the next generation to survive, reproductive anthropology tells us women ARE better communicators. They have to be. So the human race will flourish.
Men are visual. Women, in general, are emotive.

I couldn't tell you much about Transexuals but Gay men have very feminine minds. They tend to be very passive agressive, they are more indecisive then straight men they have difficulty utilizing logic in arguments, they have less loyalty in their relationships and have difficulty accepting responsibility for their actions.
