How come garden or decorative flags are so popular in the US and just don't catch on up here in Canada?

Perhaps it's because the Canadian retailers haven't stocked them in stores? Every department store and thrift shop has them here in the USA.
We enjoy showing off pride in our country, and since the 9-11 tragedy, all sorts of flags have been even more popular. You can get colorful windsocks, seasonal banners, and the ironwork to hang it all.

However, as popular as these items are right now, in a year or so the demand will fade (except for our national flag) and something else will take the spotlight.

We have a nice bunch of garden flags to choose from that aren't tacky and add to the charm of our garden. When a flag gets worn or torn - out it goes. I don't know why the flags haven't caught on in Canada. We've visited different parts of Canada and have enjoyed it very much. Canadian people have been friendly and seem to enjoy gardening. Maybe some Americans told them that garden flags are tacky.

They can be tacky to me if they are not changed or taken down before they are faded or torn! I don't see the need in them myself and I live in the USA.
