It should be fine. Just be careful not to overfeed them. The water can get too polluted very easily since fry cannot tolerate poor water quality very easily. They should be able to handle frozen baby brine shrimp at this point as well.

Oh, folks, it is the Betta fry(baby fish) that are being fed egg yolk, likely boiled; not Betta that are being fed fried egg yolk.
Your method is fine, however don't overdo it. If they are a week old already you can give them frozen baby brine shrimp. Either way you take just a thumbnail sized piece, put it into a very clean and well rinsed white handkerchief and push the food thourgh that into the water by immersing the hanky and twisting the ends around the pocket of food to squeeze the food out. You must feed 5-6 times a day to have good survival rates. In 2-3 weeks you can feed adult brine shrimp, even freeze dried, mosquito larvae or other small visible foods. Maintain a bubbler type sponge filter(2-3 are better) that is already active the whole time to keep the tank from going sour. A drop or two of methylene blue will not hurt, water temperatures should be about 90 and very constant, and carefully change a little of the water(10%) each day. Keep them separated by size or many will prey on their siblings and you will wind up with a few big ones that are mostly male because they grow faster. Good luck.

Just to clarify for those who don't quite understand the situation.. he is feeding baby Betta. They are too small for even crushed flake food when they are born, so egg yolk or other liquid foods are a common choice for feeding them.

And yes, egg yolk is good. If you can, look into hatching brine shrimp - it costs $2 for a bottle of the eggs, and they are a great food for fry. It's good to diversify, even when they are that young.

Yes you are right, but I suggest you feed other fish available in the market as egg yolk tends to make the water smelly and cloudy.

Another good home food recipe is:
50 gms Ox heart, 50gms white fish, 50gms peas (skin removed), 50 gms baked beans (washed thoroughly to remove brine), 50gms Spinach and two spoons of fish flake food.
Mash in a food processor, put in polythene bag flatten by a rolling pin till thin, put in freezer. Break of little and feed to fish.

Betta fishes are carnivorous, thus they need foods high in protein. Yes, eggs is high in protein, but since it is fried, it is high in cholesterol, that is quite bad for health. You can steam the egg . ^ ^

I don't think fried food is good for fish. Its not that great for humans though it does taste yummy. Beta food doesn't cost much and it lasts a long time. Please consider commercial beta food to give your pet the nourishment needed for optimum health and vitality and color.
