-37 weeks and pre-eclamptic
-having lots of dull lower back pain and period like crampiness in lower stomach accompanied by the feeling that I need to have a BM but I know I don't.
-Relief when I sit on the toilet- just sitting (I don't quite understand this one)
-pelvic pressure galore, feels better when I can bear down on it
- at last visit on Thursday 9/28 I was 2 cm 40%
On the contrary this is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never had labor "symptoms" I just woke up to my water breaking and was in active labor- hard and active labor. I don't want to call my physician at 2 AM unless I know this is the real deal becuse his wife is 4 days further along than I am and I don't want to wake her or take her hubby from her. I feel like I need to sleep badly... but that achiness won't allow it. Any suggestions on what to do or perhaps you think I should call the dr?

In answer- no I am alone until about 4:30 AM when the man gets home. Alone other than my kids anyhow. :) I know for sure I woulnd't be online typing if I was really ready to have a baby- last time I couldn't speak and could hardly breathe. :) Just asking if I should get my butt in to the hospital. I'd really like an epidural this time.I was always too late before.

I'm sorry if that wasconfusing at all- I was saying that with my last two I woke up to my water breaking. My water has not yet broken with this one. Just crampiness. And timing them- they're about 9 mins apart. But definitely not hard contractions like I've had before. My BP is 136/82 so not too awful bad really.

well you can always just go to the hospital and get checked out and if its something, they'll call the doctor for you, if its nothing but achiness, then they won't bother him. Its better to be safe than sorry. All pregnancies are different so don't expect the same symptoms every time. Good luck.

Call your doctor now. This is his job and it's what you're paying him to do. 37 weeks is not too soon to deliver if the baby knows it needs to be born.
I've been through this 5 times. My last pregnancy was entirely back labor and I was certain nothing was happening until the contractions got too much to ignore... by then I was in "transition" and hadn't yet left the house. My son was delivered 5 minutes after we got to the hospital and my husband still hasn't let me forget it, 14 years later!
Better to go to the hospital and be checked out than take the risk of your baby being born enroute or at home.
Your doctor's wife probably has another ob/gyn anyway... most doctor's won't deliver their own babies even when they can because they want another doctor to take that stress.

Coming from a labor and delivery nurse, you sound like you are contracting. Usually what we tell our patients is if your contractions are regular and about every 3-5 minutes and strong enough that you have to breathe through them and getting stronger, you probably should go to the hospital. You do not need to wake your DR. Call the labor and delivery unit at the hospital you are supposed to deliver at and see what they say. My guess is they will tell you to come in to be evaluated.
Good luck and congrats

Its yr dctrs JOB for Gods sake to take care of you, dont worry to call him.
Normally they say a multipara(had kids before, not by c section) should go to thosp once contractions are every 5-7minutes-or if water breaks go right away or if any danger signs for PIH....(headaches/visual disturbances/epigastric pain)allow extra time for getting babysitter to other kids ,traffic/drive time /etc. depending on where you are, in my area usually an RN will check you at the labor ward, and she would call the doctor..... If he is so indisposed by a personal matter, he will get a substitute to cover for him. Being pre ecclamptic or hainvg PIH as they now call it, labor could casue more increase to yr BP.

Congratulations.... Your dr will understand. It's his job, right? If you prefer, you can call the labor and delivery ward of the hospital and have them admit you, then page the dr when you are further along. A dr on duty can attend you, and if you develop complications before say 4 am b/c of the preeclampsia, then the duty dr can call your dr in.

Call your doctor, or go to the hospital. I f you are pre-eclamptic, labor can cause a greater increase in your blood pressure. Play it safe for you and your baby and get yourself taken care of.

When you are in active labor you won't care to get online and type anything. You will only want to focus inwards and on the contractions.
Sounds like you are in early labor to me. Hard to say how long it may last before you are in active labor.
Good luck!

If you haven't had the baby by the time you read this, chances are it's not active labor.
When in doubt, either call your OB, or after hours - call the OB department at the hospital.
