Probably a lot like places where they still use barter instead of currency. Really currency is just an intermediate substance used to facilitate bartering, if you think about it. If you read up on the history of currency maybe it will become clearer to you. Basically, barter is inefficient and currency facilitates what is essentially still a barter system if you think about it, since with currency you have the ability to store wealth that otherwise might spoil (if you're a fruit farmer, for instance).

Forms of currency were invented in several different civilizations in diverse parts of the world. So it's really at best an academic question and unanswerable - just like asking what would we be like if we weren't like what we are like?

I thought "Indians" wasn't a PC word? :D

Without currencies, no market economy is possible, so another kind of economic organisation would have been developped, maybe community-centered.
And the Nation-States couldn't have developped either, so definitely a community-based economy.

it would be a barter society but it would be far more primative because you couldnt barter for things that governments provide like roads, power, water, etc, so we would still be back 1000 yrs or more.
