....just seen pictures of the Statue of Liberty all lit up like a Christams tree. It looks really tacky...very Vegas. It might just have been the picture...how does it look in real life ???

Sorry..to be clear.. I saw a picture in the Times of India of it *specially* lit up. It's outline has been illuminated. It looks awful in the picture. Like a neon Statue of Liberty. It seems like sacriledge. Perhaps it has not reached the US news yet.

everybody's idea of beauty is different--
but to those immigrants who crossed the ocean by ship and saw that statue when arriving in New York, they will all tell you it was the most beautiful thing they every seen. 2 things i'm going to add and then i'm done ...
1. to cartier 95--blah, blah blah... u gave a great history lesson but u never answered the ?? "how does it look.??
2.to the asker, my suggestion is to take a vacation there and judge for yourself, when I seen it on my way home from europe, thot it was great...
