I really like those great movies that are realistic. dramatic, and keeps you at the edge of your seat. Some of my personal favorites are John Q, OUt of Time, Crash, We were soldiers, Laste Castle, Frailty, primal fear that one was a good "aha!" movie...And alot more. If anyone can recommend a great comedy, drama, romance, any and all i would love a chance to try something new. Thanks!

There are some movies that just have funny twists, and you go AHA and never watch it again because you never get the same effect.

Basic, Usual suspects.

Some are related to the real world and make you think about everyday life>

A few good men, good will hunting, fight club, adaptation, eterneal sunshine of the spotless mind. 12 angry men, american beauty, american psycho, schindler's list, dare i say LION KING.

I often find anime an interesting alternative to more traditional movies. And no, I don't mean the Dragon Ball Z type of anime. There are two directors/producers of anime that I really enjoy. One does mostly kids movies, the other's movies are more grown up.

My personal favorite is Hayao Miyazaki. Of his movies, I like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle. While the target audience of these movies is children, they are still great movies. Most, if not all of them, leave you saying "wow, that was a good movie!" in my opinion. They all have very good themes, like friendship, selflessness, and self confidence. I throughly enjoy them!

The other director/producer is Satoshi Kon. The movies I've seen by him were "grown up" movies (NOT adult/porn anime). My favorites by him are Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers. While they are both very different movies, they are both very well done and enjoyable.

Finally, a few other anime movies I enjoyed were done by the studio which Miyazaki is affiliated with, Studio Ghibli. They are Grave of the Fireflies and The Cat Returns. Grave of the Fireflies is based in World War II Japan, and follows the life of a brother and sister. It is very powerful. To quote one reviewer (and Wikipedia), "Animation historian Ernest Rister compares the film to Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List and says, "it is the most profoundly human animated film I've ever seen."" The Cat Returns is another children's anime, but it is very much in the same style and theme as Miyazaki's movies.

Hope that helped! Good luck on your search for new/good movies!
