LOL. your right. i think its a money thing. sometimes its to make sure the baby has a good weight. and obviously sometimes to see the sex (if you want to know). and sometimes to do measurements and make sure there are not problems physically. Its easier than a amnio test and safer.

An early sonogram will help determine better the due date of your baby because as the baby grows, it can be smaller or larger than an "adverage" baby. Some doctors are different. I've only ever had one sonogram per pregnancy, but had friends who had at least 2 or 3. There are several reasons to do a sonogram, due date, babys sex, and to check for abnormalties.

Wow, your doctor wants to do lots and lots of sonograms on you? That's great, LET THE DOCTOR DO IT, GIRL! WooHoo... That's cool! It was like pulling teeth to try to get my doctor to even give me a sonogram when I was pregnant. I wanted to see what my baby looked like and wanted to know if the baby was healthy and stuff and my doctor didn't want to give me an ultrasound or (sonogram) he always told me he didn't have the time. He would come into the room and spend about a minute and a half with me, didn't allow me to ask questions or anything. He was a total idiot raghead doctor though, and he didn't know his azz from a hole in the ground. So, anyhoo..if your doc is giving you lots of sonograms, you should enjoy them and appreciate them, hunny. Cause I only got one when I was pregnant! I only got ONE, the whole time I was pregnant, and I was disappointed in my doctor. By the way, sonograms are also a very good idea so you can show your child what he/she looked like when he/she was inside your tummy! :)

Actually, unless a woman has had a previous miscarriage or high-risk pregnancy they will not do an ultra sound until 12 weeks, and then the next one at around 20-22 weeks to check the baby's heart and kidney function. They will also do one early if the woman does not remember the date of her last menstral cycle so they can give a due date.

If you don't want it say no ,the point is you don't know if a pregnancy is going well without it ,how can you tell its OK?I have never had one at 4 weeks most people don't even know they are pregnant then.I had one that took measurements to check for downs syndrome (last baby as I was older) ,and 12 week one to check baby's age and later ones only if the growth seemed slow but I had an extra couple when the baby was getting too big (Gestational diabetes)and I had one to check the placenta as it had moved.(placenta preview)..I have had 6 pregnancy's so these were not all for the same baby.
