The loser (literally) would give up his activites--BUSH's replacement would withdraw from Iraq and tell the Arabs it was all a big mistake and could we kiss and make up OR BIN LADEN would disband Al Qaeda and go back to stroking his beard and getting kidney treatments after getting his Saudi relatives to pay restitution to all the 911 victims and pay for the new buildings and Pentagon repairs.
And then the world would kinda get back to normal and we can get back to debating if Israel really is a criminal outlaw conspiracy and the Palestinians are still getting a raw deal, or whatever.
What do you think? This is the way the ancient nations often settled big disputes. They just sent a champion from one side against a champion from the other side, and thereby saved a lot of blood and fighting and ill-will.

Yes, he did--and that's the same as calling a guy out for a showdown High Noon style.
The local sheriff takes over at that point and sets the date and time since Bush gets to call the location. The sheriff appoints seconds for each man, checks the guns, does the back-to-back lineup and then counts the paces, orders "Turn!" and then "Fire!" and that's an end to the end thing one way or the other.

The nations gave it up for a reason - it doesn't work. Do you really think that the families of the victims of 9/11 would give up hunting bin Laden? Or that the CIA wouldn't act on possible threats? Or that the Jihadists would quit their terrorism?
These aren't wars where the fight is just about nationalism, honor or land. Both sides see the other as dangerous, immoral criminals.

It would be nice if we could trust the people that attack Russian school children and hijack planes and apparently favor the starvation of Somalians, the destruction of New York and the genocide of Sudanese..... At least as much as you trust the Conneticut cowboy with the Texas oil well.

Good idea, but would have prefered if they sat down and discussed it, reached an agreement 50/50 sort of compromise, then both stopped being involved with politics/terrorism.

Why can't every country stay within their own bounderies and leave other countries alone!Why does one country insist that all other countries be run the same as theirs? The US has not been a very good role model for any other country to want to fashion their's to be like ours!
