this answer is to let Dreamsun know being depressed is not a crime ,if you would read a medical magazine or maybe talk to a doctor and get out of the clouds, you'd find out , like the rest of our bodies we are controlled by chemicals and enzymes in our bodies, and since most of us don't eat right or because of heredity, some of us do have chemical imbalances in our brains and need to take antidepressants,if you had a broke leg would you follow the same advice you just gave the person asking the question,or have you been paying to much attention to Tom Cruse.

i take antidepressants too for a muscle disorder,Fibromylgia, and i do have very vivied dreams, especially if I sleep over 8 hrs in a day.The longer I sleep the more I dream and ingreat detail. Good luck with the meds.

This is extremely normal.

Antidepressants tend to alter the chemical balance in the brain. When the chemicals are altered there are a number of side effects, one of which is a change in dream patterns.

I took Zyban for a while - to quit smoking. It is also marketed as an antidepressant under the brand name Welbutrin. I had terrible nightmares on it. So much so that I would wake up and have a terrible feeling all day because my dreams were absolutely horrific. I have met several people who stopped taking the meds because they could not handle the lingering effects of the bad dreams.

I frequently had dreams where I realized I was sleeping and in my dream was telling myself just to wake up to stop the dream. If you find that you are having a hard time with the side effects, talk to your doctor. He/she may be able to look at other types of medication or may alter your dosage.

Good Luck.

Howdy Disamari13,
What you are finally experiencing are called "Lucid Dreams". I say say finally because you may have never experienced them before. These dreams only occur in the deepest rem (rapid eye movement) sleep possible. In a lucid dream you are "aware" of the dream state. Yes, it is possible to control a lucid dream and feel free to do so. Do not be afraid and you will have the most wonderful experiences posslble. I would not say that your brain is "repairing itself" . But, I would say that your brain is "relieveing itself". This is when the brain is trying to sort out and make sense of all the chaotic sensory information that you have experienced during the previous day. Your brain has absorbed a lot of "subliminal" perceptions that you were not aware of. Sights, sounds, smells, body language, and the like can be percieved but not processed by your brain. They will be pocessed later in your sleep. The anti-depressents are mentally relaxing you enough to achieve the level of sleep Eventually, you will be able to achieve this level of sleep without the anti-depressents. Enjoy you dreams, Try to recall them. They will be easy to remember if you ask yourself "What did I dream about?" at the instant BEFORE you open your eyes. Good luck and "Buenos Suenos" (Pleasent Dreams) Feel free to ask again.

Yes, I have had dreams of being chased, or just some real action packed dreams, it was almost like I was half asleep and half awake. durring this state I did feel like I had some control over the dream. and once I was awake I wanted to go back to sleep because I enjoyed the excitement. But some of the dreams were scary and glad to be able to be awake. One thing I did notice was If I had a high sugar snack before bed I got the wild realistic dreams.

Dear friend ,

1stly Why do you need antidpressents?
Do you think you need it.Not at all.

See. life is very short . think of the universe, the infinite nature and compare yourself with natural powers, forces. How tiny we are.

I believe in -
" Dont go the way life takes you but take the life the way you go"

I am a fun loving guy, I keep smiling and make the surrounding also fresh, pleasent , I have developed a sort of magnetic personality. no worries. This does not mean that I dont have problems But the way I look at the problems is differenty.I look at them as a challenge , hurdles as in running race in olympics. Thats all. No problem can depress me or divert me from the goals I have set. Let whatsoever happen.

So its not that I can persue my goals just by behaving serious. Please understand the difference between
` Behaveing serious AND Becoming serious ( Deciding to be serious about achieving your goals ).'

Read my profile in yahoo answer. I am still jolly, sincere, wothout tension yet serious. Its all your attitude that build your personality and results.
So change your thoughts and it will change your world. Have positive attitude . Its the basic secret of goting from POT to TOP.

Have wonderful life.
Raj

YES!!!!!!!!!!! Also from antidepressants. As it turns out, if you're taking any over the counter pills with your antidepressants, it can cause that. I was taking sudafed. So my doc said sudafed's bad anyway and prescribed me a nasal spray and voila!!!! no more nightmares. I know exactly what you mean by vivid. I was having horrible nightmares. I was afraid to go to sleep
