You have a lot of choices with that. I just recently bought a Dell Inspiron E1505 and I love it. That is what I'm on right now. I only spent 1000 on mine, but they have gone down even more since then. It alse depends on what you want on it. Mine would have been lower, but I'm big into gaming, so I bought a specialized graphics and sound card for it, so the same PC might me lower for you. Just do your research. Stear clear of Toshiba, E-machines, and Compaqs though. They tend to wear our VERY fast. I like HP and Dell most of all, but Dell is the cheaper of those two. Of course, my ABSOLUTE favorite is Alienware, since they are the ULTIMATE gaming PC company, but they are WAY too expensive for me right now...lol. Good luck in your search.

Hello there, with that much budget you've plenty of choices,..first of all before buying a lap-top what you need to do is to figure out what do you want to do and what programs and software will meet your needs. One can easily over spend and have no use for the extra program or soft ware. It'll be in your best interest to buy a second-hand unit or lease a new one for a short term until you can figure out what your need are. Okay darling'. Thanks.

Apple - you can run Windows, they are light and sturdy, and they hold their value very well.

Go with the Core Duo and at least 1GB of RAM.
