You have mentioned that you missed the last period and this time the dischage is marginal. This means that otherwise you have had reglar period in the past. So do not worry about a missed period or two over the course of a year. More variation than that may indicate to us the beginning of perimenopause or a disruption of the natural chain of hormonal events that controls menstruation. Your age -34- also indiate that it is not yet time for the curtain to come down, though this is woman-specific and may vary anyhere from 30 to 55 years. You have not stat ed if you had any other symptoms like night sweats, irregular periods, vaginal dryness, But remember this period of approching menopaulse(if it is that) called Perimenopause (and even the later, menopause itself) is not an illness, but a natural process in a woman’s body. Your symptoms, if you have them, are just indicators of underlying hormonal imbalances or metabolic damage from poor nutrition, stress and other factors.

I'm an R.N. so I hope that you won't mind me asking a few more questions in order to assess what might be going on with you. First of all since you failed to have a period last month, are having a very light period this month, and are experiencing very tender breasts, is there any chance that you could be pregnant? It is not unusual for people in their first trimester to have a very scant menstrual flow. You could pick up a home pregnancy test at a local drugstore and rule this out one way or the other. Also there are many reasons why people may have changes in their menstrual periods including but not limited to increased stress, loss of weight, lack of sleep, dietary changes, moving, vacations medications, and changes in personal habits. Become aware of any gradual changes in your body such as breast tenderness and enlargement, increased abdomen, nausea, tiredness, irritability, changes in appetite, lethargy, changes in bowel habits, etc. The important thing is to just slowly gather and write down any of the changes your body might be undergoing so that specific patterns can be identified and then discussed with your personal physician. I doubt that you are experiencing signs of perimenopause. Lots of good nutrition, plenty of sleep, and fresh air with exercise will help your body be healthy. Please don't become alarmed with the changes in your menstrual periods despite finding a cause because some women just develop such a pattern for a period of time and it is the norm for them. The medical profession rules out pregnancy and disease and otherwise just keeps an eye on things so that everything is progressing normally for the individual. I hope that this information will be helpful for you. Good luck to you.

I'm not an expert but I am a woman. I noticed that periods change with age, life's stress, and sometimes with different medications. I'm 36 and during my periods my breast can swell and hurt, but for three weeks I would consult my physician on that one. I have heard of women starting menopause in there 30's but vary rare.

It is possible for people to hit perimenopause as early as 34. However with your sore breasts are you sure you are no pregnant? a light period can be just spotting which can happen when women are pregnant.

If your breasts have been sore for 3 weeks, I would say you may be pregnant.
Also with the change in your period it is a real possibilty.
