We haven't been going out in a couple of months, before that we were together for almost 4 years. He just called me to tell me he'll be gone in a couple of months, and I fear I might loose my chance forever. What can I do? He says that he's too hurt to be friends and see me before he leaves, and he told me that he wouldn't be going to Iraq or anything, but I still love him. I saw him 2 weeks ago on his Bday, and he looked at me like he still loved me, and when I asked him about the look, he got in his car and left. I know that a part of him wants to be with me, but I can't figure out how to get him to admit it. I thought if I gave him the space he needs that he would realize what was going on, but now he'll be gone forever. We used to talk when we were dating about him in the service, and I told him I would be happily married on base with him, and he'd smile. I never thought he'd go, how do I get him to see that we can be together without hurting each other? I love him so much.

my husband wasn't my ex but I know that the reason we are married today is because I was the friend back home that he needed while he was on deployment. You can try before he leaves to talk it through but my best advice would be stay next to him be his friend and help him in this really hard time. Deployments are stressful and if you push to hard he might just get even more stressed and then you'll lose hima dn fast. Go at his speed.
Good luck

You say he says he is "too hurt to be friends." It sounds like his ship has already sailed. Learn from this, and in time you will meet someone else. Sometimes we do not appreciate what we have until after we lose it.

Writing to him and keeping in touch while he is in the Navy might win him back If he sees that you truly love him enough to wait for him.

If you want him you better hurry and do something about it. what are you waiting for? This could be your last chance and then anything could happen. If you wait you may never have the chance again. go for it, girl, and don't let him go again if he still wants you.

If you loved him so much, you'd have a little respect for his feelings. "He says that he's too hurt to be friends and see me before he leaves."
Why do you refuse to accept what he's said? If you love him, you'd accept it, instead of forcing your agenda on him, and trying to fantasize about what you think he thinks.
