I am looking for a way to dress up my husband as ricky ricardo w/out using the traditional babaloo costume..He thinks it is too flambouyant...lol... If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Also any pictures of real homemade costumes would be great.. Thanks!!!!

In other episodes of I Love Lucy, Ricky was a night club owner, so he wore a nice tux suit. Try a nice suit if its just too much for him. Remember the hair style, the props of a cigarette and the famous Spanish accent ...Lucy! Have a BALL....

He seemed to have the Zoot suit look of the late forties early thirties. It was a baggy suit coat almost a long coat but shorter, baggies and pleated pants with a wide brimmed fedore, and of course, the pocket watch with fob and chain. a little conga drum over the shoulder, wha-la! (Don't forget the penciled in moustache he had when show first started.)

A black bow-tie, a styrofoam skimmer hat, and black suit should do it.
