Masturbation is perfectly normal, however its frowned down upon by Christianity, Judaism and during Ramadan, Islam. Almost all of the Medical world agrees, that Masturbation is normal, and it is known it won't make you go bald, mad, blind or make hair grow from your palm. It is perfectly normal to do and it helps release stress, because when you Masturbate, you release Endorphins, which make you feel more chilled-out.
It is not in any way a sin, in my point of view. It is perfectly normal to try things out. Why would masturbation be a sin and sex not? In both cases, you are making pleasure, are you not?
But before you masturbate, you must know if your Religion accepts it, and if not and, maybe, you parents are Religious fanatics, then still Masturbate, but BE CAREFUL. If you are Muslim do not Masturbate during Ramadan because that goes against Ramadan's rules.

I think that the real sin is having sex before you are married, now other people have their opinions and I respect that. But the real point is that if you ask me, I would rather kids or people that are not yet married masturbate then have sex with another person.
Lets look at it this way, a thirteen year old kid wants to know what sex is like (completely normal, I mean you don't know and thirteen year olds want to know about things) so would you rather the child go out and have sex or masturbate? No parent wants their child to have sex at a young age, and masturbating is just a way for children and adults to express their need for sex without having another person. And a lot of children and adults use it as a relief system type thing. So if you ask me it is perfectly normal.
Chow!

NOT a sin. People who say it is a sin cannot back up their belief with the Holy Bible.
In the Old Testament when God listed the things that were sexual sin.....he did NOT list masturbation. We are told of Onan spilling his seed, but the sin was NOT masturbation, the sin was ( a spiritual thing that I dont' have time to explain here.
If spilling seed is a sin, am I supposed to tell a 11 yr. old boy to Repent when he finds come-covered sheets on his bed in the morning, and he has had a Wet Dream ? No.
If mastur. is a sin, God would have listed it when he listed...no bestiality, no sex with your sister, etc.

The act of masturbation is not a sin. The bible has no references to orgasms...
However....
The bible does talk a lot about adultery, and Jesus says that sin is sin whether in thought, word, or deed.
So having sex with yourself, is not sin, masturbating while fantasizing about your wife is not sin, masturbating while fantasizing about someone other than your wife is sin.
All of this is open for interpretation of course which is why the bible is so popular.

Masturbation is not a sin. In fact, it is a way of life no matter the gender. When you need to be relieved, you need to be relieved. When no other means are available, masturbation is the way to go. In fact, have a little fun with it. By exploring yourself, you know what your limits are, and actually finding a somewhat personal satisfaction after words.

I wouldn't think it's a sin. Masterbation only helps u learn about u likes and dislikes. It helps u get to know u personally, and that u can tell ur wife how u like to be pleased.. if she knows how to turn u on..she gets turned on.

Honestly, masturbation is something you want to stay well away from. A muslim who had been raised in a non-muslim household, whilst their muslim parent would only see them once a week, had been exposed to television, internet, masturbation, pornography and music from a very early age, and all of their friends were non-muslims which never helped. Two major problems that this person had, were being exposed to pornography and not being told that masturbation must NEVER be done. Additionally, they were never put into a Madrassa from an early enough age so they would often mess around and feel out of place and feel uncomfortable as they couldn't relate to the other kids. In their early teens, they finally chose to put all their efforts into following Islam, but they had already developed many many bad habits so they found it difficult to concentrate and would often get distracted by friends, television, music etc. Plus it didn't help living in a non-muslim house, being in a non-muslim school and living far away from a masjid. Eventually this person got taken off track by non-muslim friends and got exposed to alcohol, drugs, more pornography and adultery. The person delved in and out of Islam and would sometimes follow it, and sometimes hang around with non-muslim friends instead and mess around. This person started developing split personalities and eventually got taken far off track. They committed sins and thought, "oh, I'll repent another time". They became addicted to porn and spent hours and hours viewing it. Eventually they got to a point that even hanging around with non-muslim friends wasn't as fun. They would continue to watch porn until their mind became completely corrupted and everything changed about them from the way they thought, the way they acted, walked and talked. They even started looking at gay porn which became an addiction. They got to a point were they never attended masjid at all, never felt guilty about drinking alcohol or having drugs, eating haram, looking at porn, masturbating, listening to music, disrespecting parents, ignoring muslims and avoiding them, mostly staying alone, constantly swearing, using abusive language, backbiting, talking back to parents, stealing, lying, perversions, feeling desperate, having mood swings, losing friends, having an extremely hard heart, having negative and suspicious thoughts, having doubtful thoughts, no longer caring that Allah was witnessing everything they did, doing haram things like meditation, constantly talking about meaningless unimportant things, using disgusting sexual and abusive language, not caring about appearance, becoming extremely anxious and having strange feelings of unreality, extreme nervousness and overall just feeling depressed. There eventually came a time when this person had been exposed to a drug whereby they had ingested far too much, and this person already suffered from anxiety. Days went on and the person felt extremely strange. They had difficulty socialising and constantly felt down. There relationships with classmates were not the same, they often sat and stared at people, they did extremely silly things and acted very childish, they had difficulty with eye contact when talking to people, would often be defensive, and they stopped enjoying doing anything. The person started having crazy homosexual intrusive thoughts when around others that they couldn't control, and they couldn't at all relax or concentrate. They stopped attending studies until they eventually had to quit. They suffered panic attacks and had racing thoughts about Jahannam (Hell). They would humiliate themselves and would often cry. There eventually came a time where the person had a massive panic attack and suddenly had more homosexual thoughts which then lead them to think "I'm gay". The person was devastated and was almost losing their mind so they exposed many many sins they had committed in the past, said they were going to hell, said they had been cursed and also how they wish they had made better choices in the past. Right now the person can no longer emotionally connect with anyone as they no longer even feel human due to all of the humiliation and abuse they have done to themselves, and when they think back to all the disgusting things they have done, they can't stomach the fact that they will have to witness all that they have done in front of Allah, and how shameful and humiliated they will feel will be unimaginable. What that person had done, they wouldn't even want their friends and family to see, but it will all be revealed one day, regardless of if they repent or not.
I can honestly suggest that you seriously think about what you do in life, and always remember that even if you commit a shameful sin like masturbation or viewing pornography and still repent, you will still have to witness yourself doing it on the day of Qiyamah.
