My grandparents bought a 30GB Ipod video, on vacation, then my uncle transfered his whole library to it. Now, they brought it back home and want to backup the pics and music(talk shows). My uncle said that if you hook it up to the computer, it will delete all the files. Is that from the auto-update or is there another thing that will do that? Thanks in advance.

In response to Oscar, can you disable the updates? It has some pictures they want.

Its protections itunes uses so u dont steal their music, if you updated an ipod from one computer and take it to another it would erase all the ipod music... this happens because ipod looks for the music it has in your itunes library and if its not there it deletes. Ipod was ment to be hooked up to itunes.
