PS3 is a more powerful system, but the price tag for the system and the games is astounding ($600.00 for the complete system and $100.00 for each game, roughly). The 360 may not be as powerful a system, but it is at a more reasonable price for what it does do, I particularly enjoy playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on it myself, It's a beautiful game to look at alone on it. The system is onlygoing to get better as well, as more games that will utilize the systems resources will be released for it. If you are seeking a more high end system however, then I probably would go towards the PS3. For more games and a larger online audience, I would go for the 360. I based most of my answer from www.gamespot.com. and the rest from personal experience. I hope this helps out :)

I can't tell you how tired I am of saying these things over and over, but when you see some of the drivel that comes flying from the minds of certain users, one feels the need to protect everyone from what is general uninformed opinion and fanboyism.

First, yes, the PS3 is a more powerful system. BUT...... A lot of that power is needed to support the secondary functions of the system(media, external device connectivity, backward compatibility, and nearly countless integrated applications embedded in the system). When you take a deeper look into the functionality of the game system, you will probably be surprised at how much less of its tech than you thought was actually dedicated to gaming.

And that may very well be the downfall of the system. With no fail, sony has overbuilt each of their systems, losing huge amounts of money on the hardware, depending on their software to bring them out of debt. This strategy hasn't worked for them yet. Five or so out of their last maybe eight years haven't been profitable, all because they chose to take that approach. That is pitiful, since they continually own over 60%(approximate) market share of the industry every fiscal year.

The PS3 is their biggest encroachment of this territory yet. There is over $1,000 of technology packed into it, a base net loss of at least $400 per system.

Another issue with this, the more important one, is that with all that is packed into the system, not enough of it is geared toward making games great. The PS3 (original and exclusive) games will generally look better thatn Xbox 360. But not the multiplatform games that span both or all three systems. Peolple even put too much stock in certain titles (like MGS4). Hideo Kojima himself was quoted by the gaming press as having explained that the look of MGS4 is more due to the skill of their development house than the power of the PS3, and that it was a feat also capable of being done on 360.

While PS3 is impressive, 360 is nothing to laugh at either. Games like Oblivion and the upcoming Gears of War look just as good as any offer I have seen from ps3 so far(that isn't a snowjobbing prerendered video *cough* killzone *cough*). And at a reasonably more affordable(still pretty high) $400, you'll find that it is probably a better value for your money. The graphical difference between the two just doesn't scream "I'm worth another $200", and probably won't for a long time.

While there is plenty more to be said on the issue, I haven't got all day to type so I'll stop here. But in short, buy whatever you want, just make an informed purchase and be sure that you won't likely be disappointed with giving up your hard earned cash. In the end, that is all that should matter.

PS3 all the way! If have the money buy it, if you don't save for a month then buy it. Absolute best value, the only games xbox gets are shooters, sports and racing which is okay if you wont miss sims, rpgs, platformers or anything else outside of the box and creative.

To give you a brief view: ... PS3 is really the one aiming for the next-gen consoles. Its capability to use blu-ray discs, its graphics processing unit ( Nvidia the ones responsible for the GPU of the original xbox due to some misunderstandings, they signed with ps3) . Backward capable playing your psx and ps2 games. the exclusives!! like - metal gear, gran turismo, final fantasy, etc. The experience would be.. it's like this. Playing psx then suddenly ps2 came out, its really different like you can really see the shift in the changes of the console. The only thing i don't like with the ps3 is the spiderman font. I suggest using the old ps2 cyber-like font.

Xbox 360 on the other hand. I believe it was created to defeat ps2 obviously. They're not qualified to be considered as a next-gen console. Graphics are just an improvement of the ps2. Plus the games. some of the games that they release on x360 are available on the current-gen consoles so why bother buying them on x360. There are also exclusives that are only available for x360 like the halo series, Marvel MMO exclusive for x360 and vista, Tecmo's team ninja! the ones responsible for DOA series!! . Other than that, they release games that are released on PC..??

For me the best choice for the next-gen is PS3. i'll be buying xbox360 only to play their exclusives, same as nintendo Wii.

=D

my vote goes with ps3. i also own a 360 but i have to keep my reg. xbox to play some games. And if ps2 was any indication, ps3 will able to play all ps2 and ps1.

as for current titles ps3 seemss to have many promising games like mgs4, ff13, gt-hd, etc. and it comes with blu-ray(unproven but promising)

only bad thing is the online mode. I needs to be like xbox live. playonline sucked hard. i for one will try to get a ps3 at launch.

PS3 ALL THE WAY!!!!!!
Look at it this way. The xbox360 came out before the ps3. That means Sony has a chance to make it better.
