I'm 40 years old and have been having sex with the same woman (my wife) for most of my adult life. Earlier this year this condition arose over night, seemingly connected with a fairly aggressive episode of sexual intercourse. It went away after a few days. I suspected it was some sort of hernia of the inner tissue.

Now, several months later, it has returned and is worse. It is on the shaft of my penis, only on one side and definately under the skin. There is no discomfort or other symptoms. It now appears as if another major blood vessel has arisen on the top surface of the shaft, as large as the primary ones that run down each side. By feel it is always firmer than a regular blood vessel, in spots, and feels something like a string of pearls or perhaps similar to the way I remember a tendon in my wrist feeling when I had a bad case of tendonitis.

It does not stay consistant over the full length of the shaft or even day to day and stays the same whether erect or flaccid.

Definitely consult a physician, it could be a number of different things and he or she will need to run various tests to find out exactly what it is. Don't discount the idea that your wife may not have had a monogamous relationship all this time, even if you have been faithful, but don't assume it either!

Have you had recent surgery before the first episode? A very similar incident occurred to me, and it was diagnosed as an effect of the anesthesia during a routine surgery.

I suggest you make an appointment with a urologists ASAP, get some blood work done, and get this resolved.

Dude, I had the same problem. Nothing to worry about, I saw a doctor about the problem, it was a simple one. You are having a reaction to the material your underwear is made out of, change the kind of underwear you are wearing and it will stop occuring, by the way, I'm also 40 years old.

I would go to the doctor if I were you.

You know worry isn't going to heal it. Take action by going to the doc, and just enjoy life. Hey, man; you're entering "middle age." (lol)

Join the club!

I'm sure you'll be all right.

You could, you know, talk to a DOCTOR about this. Rather than a random Internet community that will surely respond almost entirely with jokes or "ewwww too much information!".
