hi!
my 8 month old daughter is the same way.....she will not sleep on her back and it has been like that since she was about a month old. i am like you....i worry worry worry about my daughter. (which i think is a good thing)

i did discuss this with my doctor when my daughter had an appointment and the doctor told me to put them on their back to sleep, but once they can start rolling over by theirselves, then the risk of s.i.d.s goes down so i dont have to keep putting her back on her back if she rolls to her belly.

congratulations on your baby daughter!

It's okay...it really is. When babies start being able to roll over, they now have more muscle control and the ability to protect their airway (like much better than when they were newborns). The baby will be fine. Just start her out on her back and make sure their aren't any loose blankets or toys, etc in the crib that she could occlude her airway. You're a good mom that is just trying to do the right thing for her baby!

In my research on SIDS, I found that the most dangerius time for SIDS is between 2 and 4 months of age. They say that once the baby can roll over by themselves they are safer. Go to www.babysake.com and read up on this. I'm not sure if I believe it 100%, but it does make a lot of sense to me about SIDS.

When my first child was born we were told to lay them on there left side so it changes all the time and at her age she can turn her face so she doesn't suffocate We don't really know why sids happen all we do is take a guess and a few shot statistics so stay calm check on your baby buy a monitor and respect that she doesn't want to sleep on her back do you sleep on your back I don't.

She is 7 months now and there really is not much you can do to make them sleep in one position all night. They aren't going to stay put :)
She is fine. SIDS is usually cause of death in younger babies. She wont suffocate b/c she can lift her head and roll. Take a deep breath and know that she is a wiggle worm and she will be fine !!
My oldest was this way. From day one it seemed the only way he wanted to sleep was on his belly, he is now 8. Each child is different. Best of luck ;)

Mine did and still does the same thing..... My pediatrician suggested putting him on his side and using a pillow to support his back.... worked for a couple of weeks then he started turning over again. I don't know what to do. P.S He's now 10 months old

Good luck

I put my daughter in one of those things that keep them from rolling over. I don't know what they are called but they are in the baby section. It keeps them on their side which is safe at your babys age. By the way its ok to worry you're her mom and thats what moms do. if not you then who??

My daughter did the same thing, once the can roll from front to back and back to front you can worry less. Just periodically check on her and talk to you doctor. They also have sleep positioners but she propbably to big for them now. Make sure there are no blankets, stuffed animals etc in the crib that she could smoother.

If she has been sleeping on her tummy since she was two weeks old, I doubt you will be able to change her habits after this length of time. If she can roll over by herself, I wouldn't worry about it, if she were having trouble breathing she would be able to turn her head or roll over by herself.

Good Luck!

once they start lifting their heads with good control, the chance of SIDS lowers. My doctor told me after four months, my daughter would be ok sleeping on her belly because that was what she preferred. Just make sure she's not on a pillow, and doesn't have stuffed animals around her head. She'll be fine, good luck,
