OK, ask no longer, I am going to tell you what to do, but before I do, I want to tell you what my situation was before I found out about what to do. I had menstrual cramps so bad, I use to vomit, sweat, cry in pain and suffered every month with this for twelve years. One day I was sitting in an OB clinic when I was in the Navy overseas and noticed they had an advertisement for medication specifically for menstrual cramps. I talked to the doctor about this medication and told him about the pain I am in and how being in the Navy really wasn't condusive with having cramps. He asked me some questions about what I had done in the past and I told him I had tried every pain medication and nothing helped. He said he wanted me to try something first and if it didn't work, then I could come back and see him. He told me that if you wait until you are in pain to take medication, it is too late. He said, what you have to do is take pain medication either when you first start or when you start feeling the pain coming. The sooner you take the medication, the better. He said the reason behind this is that the medication has to be ahead of the pain. I tried it using tylenol or ibuprofen and it was fantastic, very little pain. Then several years later, I tried Aleve, the best stuff I have ever had and it works so well. I just recently found out that Aleve has an ingrediant in it that reduces a chemical released that causes cramps. Anyway, I take two Aleve at the onset of pain and make sure I have then readily available and ready to take when needed. I usually do not wait to have pain before I start taking them, I take them every few hours to make sure I have pain free periods. Another thing to remember, if you are driving or in a store and you feel pain coming on, get medication immediately because even if you wait five or so minutes, it could mean pain for an hour or so. My life is so much better now with no pain and I know it will work for you.

Heat and there are many over the counter medicines especially for cramps. However, if they are very severe, your gynecologist can perscribe something for you.
