Curious whether there are differences between men and women in terms of how they view computers.

A computer is a tool to me in my opinion! My gender is: Female (girl)!!!

It is most definitely a tool. No matter what anyone may say, it is simply a tool. We use it to sending communication (email, whether for personal or for business use), entertaining ourselves (movies, the dvd player is a tool, not a toy, mind you, and music players too), and for receiving communication (emails, pictures, etc.). The computer has a mulititude of uses but all in all, it is a tool to be used to do all of those things. Cause without the computer as the means, one could not do any of those things.

Not being able to answer both is ridiculous. It's like asking whether ones car is a tool or a toy. People use those for both purposes too.
And if that is nor admitted, they are lieing, at least to themselves

I use it probably 30% of the time for serious work - bill paying, communicating with family , ect.
I use it 50% of the time as a toy for computer games, gaming online, ect.
I use it another 20% for serious work used for toying around, Dungeons and Dragons -character creation, map making, dungeon creation, ect.

It is a tool to me for communication and learning, But the in-mature use it as a toy like the kiddies& myspace lord have mercy.
