ddr 2 works in dual channel mode to augment a dual core processors multithreading capabilities, ddr2 is not compatible with ddr, but if you do not have a dual core processor (which you don't) ddr2 will not help that much

Umm what that last guy said makes no sense, anyway if your computer only uses DDR than you cannot get DDR2 because they are not compatible with each other. And yes DDR2 is faster.

DDR 2 use dual memory so one works in back ground and one in the application fields. u need a dual core 2 processor to work the magic.
