yahoo lacks good servers, meaning that its hightly unstable when it comes to chat rooms, my best bet is that if too many people are on one chat room at a time it becomes unstable sending peaces of data everywhere and makin your pc freze... use a firewall to stop this...

Sounds like you have a problem with java vitrual machine. Uninstall and reinstall Java virtual machine and that should solve it.
