Hip hop is the scene not the music . Combining Graffiti , breakdancing and the likes . Rap is the actual well vocal " Rap " that the rapper will sing .

i think they the same. i like rap but i didnt know that hip hop and rap was different!
but when u gonna spit somethin then u dont say i ma hiphop! u say i ma RAP.so i think rap is the lyrics in the hip hop beats.

hip hop is an actual movement.
hip hop is breakdancing, graffiti, dj-ing and rapping.
rap is the lyrics over the beat
