They assume a girl and a guy are together as well. I doubt you can avoid that. People who spend a lot of time together just give the appearance of dating.

I love this question, I was once married, i am gay and I also have straight and gay friends. I was once told by my ex wife that "if you go to a gay bar your gay". That is the mentality of ignorant people. You can have 10 gay friends and not be gay yourself. I know lots of my gay friends that have straight friends. In fact i think that most straight people have gay friends, that dont know they are gay. Just ignore the ignorant people and keep all your friends, straight or gay. You can never have too many friends.

People do that all of the time. They think that any man who hangs around a known gay guy is also gay. People tend to think of gay people only for their sexual orientation, not anything else. They can't understand that gay people have friendship needs just like any one else -- or that their friends may have other commonalities with them that help bond them to each other -- like similar interests in sports, hobbies, values, etc.
People who are friends with gay people (especially gay men) have all gone through this type of thing. That is why a gay (or out bi) man's friendship web is sometimes limited to gays, lesbians, or bisexual people. Potential friends get afraid and back off.

Because sometimes people can be judgemental and presumptuous. And some people think they can look on the outside of something and assume they know the situation, when they really don't have a clue.

People can be stupid, envious, and judgmental. Let people think what they will, because when it all boils down; the affection/sexual preferences of you and your friend are none of their damn business. They say if you have a good loyal friend in this life, you are truly blessed. Enjoy having a loyal friend.

You have some ignorant and bigoted friends. Reevaluate their friendships. Gay doesn't rub off on you; you are or aren't.

You get the Gay from rubbing up against other gays. every Christian/Zog/Republonazi knows this.
It's just Homophobia, think of it as a convenient way to sort out who will be doing nothing to advance the human race in your lifetime.
