I agree wholeheartedly. It may not happen across the nation, but for those of us who deal with it on a daily basis, it's gone on far too long. Problem is, if your question is said by a white person, it's considered racist, and we should be shot.

I don't understand how a people can complain and fight for equal rights, and turn right around and seperate themselves again - BET, NAACP, ***** College Fund, etc. If white culture dwelled on such a thing, it's 'down with whitey'. I am absolutely not a racist, and I agree that most people complain about the past because they want a quick fix for their present and someone to blame for their problems and place in life.

I'm tired of being blamed for the horrible ancestors of the past, when my family was too damn poor to ever own slaves, and were probably once slaves and servants themselves. History has shown that many blacks were sold into slavery by other blacks. I personally did not oppress anyone, and am very sorry if it happened to your ancestors over 200+ years ago. My ancestors were beatened and banned from Nova Scotia about the same time for their religious beliefs and the like, and sent to the swamps to live like redneck dogs- to pass down to their children and all the way down the line to me - absolutely nothing because they had nothing to give. Stuff happens. Get over it.

I also think that Native Americans were basically...screwed. It's one thought to try to share a land and become one people, but to kill, lie and just plain steal it, is quite another. The more I read about it, the more sickening it becomes. Sadly, 90% of Americans have never heard of such a thing happening. Even more sad is the fact that if the white man had never come, North America would probably be the most beautiful land in the world, since most Native Americans believe in preserving Mother Earth.

Our American past is a very shameful one, but it is exactly that - in the past. It's our future we should look forward to. If there's something to complain about - global warming is enough that each person in the world should be discussing - fiction or fact - why wait until it is undisputed reality?

I totally agree with you. Many heinous crimes were committed by people in times past and the people who should be punished are long dead. Most Europeans were slaves for most of their history. Out of all the races that were enslaved the only ones who bleat on and on about it are the blacks and they do themselves no good doing it because people just get sick and tired of it. The majority of white people alive in the US today had nothing whatsoever to do with slavery nor did their ancestors but the blacks would accuse them of being the perpetrators of slavery. On the other hand the Native Americans have many more grievances such as the genocidal actions of white people but they have largely reconciled themselves with the past and moved on. Nothing is gained by whinning and complaining about past misdeeds especially when the ones whinning and complaining are not even the ones who suffered the wrongs complained of and the accusations are leveled at people who didn't commit the wrongs.

That's a stupid question actually.

The Japanese never fails to remind the United States every year about nuking Nagasaki and Hirosima.

The United States never fails to mention Pearl Harbor every year filling up the Public television channels with footage from that dastardly day.

The Chinese never fails to remind Japan every year about the rape of Nanaking and a host of other atrocities that was bestowed on them in the 30s and 40s.

The Jewish people will never let anyone forget about the holocaust.

The Natives here will in one way or another will always let you know that this is their land and it was stolen outright through viloence and lies.

Each racial group on this pathetic planet has a beef with another group for doing the unspeakable at one time or another throughout history, and you dare to sit there and whine that Black people keep bringing up the past? You are a silly person who does not read very much history.

Silly person. You are a big, silly person and you should be laughed at in the streets for your ill-thought out thread.

Silly person.

I think your the only one focusing on it. I haven't even heard about this subject lately until you brought it up. This is not about who got it worse. It's not a contest of who got it the worst. I think you need to lay off of your hate trip because this pessimistic view is just tiring. I believe your question and other ignorant questions alike enjoy invoking anger for your own pleasure. If it makes you feel better to shed light on people in this way then I can just conclude that you must be an individual with inadequate views of yourself. and this people, is why racism is present, because people feel like crap about themselves so they want to put other people down.

because their past haunts them
its hard for predjudice, racism, and bigotry
to just die away
even though they have been given time, it takes more time to get over the past-
for example if you collected everything Babe Ruth ever had and your little sister comes and throws a Babe Ruth autographed ball away, aren't you going to be mad?
and then later, everytime you look at your Babe Ruth collectables
you remember that your sister threw away that ball?
its the same thing- since the white man hurt the black man deeply, everytime they see a white man it brings back past

you may want to forget the past ..but the past doesnt forget you...

The indians were all but exterminated. now they live on reservations(not all). and this is sad..yes , some have the casinos .But , i know they are not happy about "after the mayflower".. in this life someone has to be the oppressed. unfortunately it is "non-whites"....who knows what the world would have been if it was the other way around..Blacks controlling power and finance..would we be racist too and lynch white people... who knows......just enjoy your life....chill out and relax ..whether you "have " or "have not"

Unfortunately I think because they are not happy with what they have or what they are now and they are trying to blame it on someone else. It's not fair if they dislike whites because the Spaniards and people from their own (original) tribes were the ones who sold them.. Anyways..
