You have two options:

1. Wait until they arrive, and as they enter your home hand each guest a broom, bucket and sponge, dust rag, etc along with the appropriate cleaning products and say, "I'm SOOOO glad to see you, I didn't think I'd EVER get this house clean!" They should then take the hint and call to see if you would like company BEFORE they leave their own homes.........

2. When they call and say they are on the way over, say "Oh, I'm so sorry, I'm on my way out of the house for the morning/afternoon/evening (whichever is appropriate); I WISH I had known earlier that you wanted to come over, I would not have made other plans." I use this one frequently myself, as nothing annoys me more than other people assuming I am sitting at home all the time with nothing better to do than entertain drop-in guests. If I WANTED company, I would have invited them!!!!

Good luck, hope they get the hint and grow a few manners!

if so, there would not be a lot to do for the reason that our abode is tidy ninety 9% of the time (there are 6 human beings contained in the abode and four persons are waiting to do the paintings because out of the different 2, one is a 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous and the different is in a wheelchair). the only issues that would favor to be done are vacuuming (only the significant floor and possibly the basement for the reason that it really is the position human beings will be) and make certain the dishes are done and the lavatory is clean sufficient. So, it would take about 10-20 minutes, tops. Plus, for my section, if someone can not cope with the way I have my abode, then it somewhat is their problem, no longer mine. I stay the way I stay and they ought to cope with it in the experience that they're going to be my pal.

Clean up clutter and put it in a closet. Dust the room where you are sitting. Light a candle for a nice smell. Clean the toilet in the guest room and wipe off sink, put out clean hand towels. Oh and put the dishes in the dishwasher and wipe off the counter

And next time tell them you would rather than not just call and drop in! But real friends don't look at the house!

I would say first clean the bathroom, next pick up any cloths personal items in the living area, then if you have time, wash or put dishes in the dish-washer, close doors to anyrooms you don't want guest to enter.
I would not be to worried about what the house looks like, most people feel the same way about the appearance of thier house when they will be getting unexpected quest due to drop by.

Take a laundry basket, toss stuff from the floors and tables into it, and hide it in a closet or bedroom. Vaccuum quickly, and spray air freshner. Maybe light a candle. It would take about 5-10 minutes to do that.

For get the house and meet them out side if it is pretty. If not I would run and close all doors to the rooms that your guests will not use and fly through and pick up. You know if you keep up with the house it will not be a worry.

Throw all clutter in a bin and hide it until they leave...then actually put the stuff away. Quick clean important rooms like the bathroom...someone will inevitably have to use it, and you don't want them to be in there if it is nasty.

Pick your battle and clean the worst. The kitchen should be clean and the bathroom. My friend throws everything in the closets.

I totally agree! Just throw all clutter(mail, newspapers, books, shoes, etc) in laundry baskets & put them in bedroom closets. Quickly wipe down sink, toilet & floor in the bathroom, & throw a small towel over the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink!

Run around in circles...AAARRRGGG!
