Yes, was it a system restore or a system recovery?
if it was restore, then disable system restore, make sure your virus defs are updated and reboot into safe mode. Then do a virus check.
Also, after all that, if its still sluggish, go to
start - run - type "msconfig" - startup tab - and untick unecessary pograms such as quicktime etc etc. [cos you dont need these programs to start up automatically. you can still access them by clicking on the icons]. - then press ok.
also defrag your pc and start up a windows maintenance program such as tunup utilities, jv16, systemworks etc to ensure the pc is running smoothly.
I dont think its the harddrive. usually, a faulty hardrive is where things go missing etc. Its most likely that you have something running on your pc thats eating too much resources [like a virus or program].
Also, do - alt+ctrl+delete [to access task manager] and see what running processes are eating up your resources. It may give you a good idea.

I don't know what you mean a "full system restore". But I am no expert.
First I would uninstall any new programs you may have installed. If that does not work I would do a "system restore" Make sure you exit all programs before you begin.
Then I would run anti-spyware and anti-virus.
I have "Registry Mechanic" and "System Mechanic" I only use them as a last resort, sometimes they make matters worse.
Then, find out what is running when you start up your computer. There is a certain command that you type into the "run" box.
Then I look at what processes are running when the puter is starting up. It may give you an idea of what is going on.
If none of that works it is time to reformat the hard drive. This is not as bad as it sounds, it just takes time, but it is also a good idea to do every now and then anyway.
Like I say, I am pretty much self-taught and winging it on my own.
Also, empty out your temporary internet files. But I would also defer to the experts here.

All of THAT, your archives, IS long previous. i think of you have according to probability discovered an considerable lesson right here, not that it will enable you to with your undertaking due on Monday, yet why did you not make a restoration disk once you had the prospect so which you had a BACKUP you will desire to repair each and everything from? Now you realize why my friends are so unwell of me harping on BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP each and every of the time. an prolonged time in the past, a smart programming instructor instructed me, "it is not a count of in the journey that your computer fails, it rather is whilst." At which ingredient we launched into a 2 day communicate of the layout of backup platforms for reliability and toughness. i'm sorry on your loss. i'm not hopeful you will get lots achieved earlier your undertaking is due... do not shopot the messenger...

Did you do a system recovery, or a system restore? In restore, you can only go back to dates on your computer, a system recovery, will take you back to where your computer looks just like the day, you bought it, like brand new..

If you did a full system restore, meaning that everything in the hard drive was erased it might be your hard drive, but maybe if you backed up your data and put it back on the computer a virus maybe be in your backup data.
